When we got the message from Greg Barnett that we needed to get to California for the L.A. Tweet Up, both of us were unsure as to just how we were supposed to get there. We didn’t have very much money, and we were about to head down to Savannah, Georgia for the next leg of our East Coast travels. The original plan had been to hit Savannah and then make our way towards the upper parts of Florida and then a final stop in St. Augustine before heading back up the coast to visit Ty Paulding, a tattoo artist who owns two tattoo studios(and fellow Twit), one in Alabama and one in Florida.
We began to work like hell, trying to do what we could to build money for the trip, selling our excess belongings, trying to find odd jobs, and generally doing what we could. The response to our situation on Twitter was phenomenal. Neither of us could have foreseen the support that would soon be offered. In a little under two days and many hours spent on Twitter the donations began to arrive. With the amazing help of those who believed in our cause, we were able to raise over $600 in donations in three days, which blew both our minds. To those who have helped us, no matter how many times we say it, thank you. We owe you more than we could possibly repay in one lifetime, but we’ll certainly try to deliver the world.
