Twitter Travels

You don’t know what’s out there until you go looking for it. The truth is not on your television. It’s in your hearts, your homes, and your life. It’s not on your TV screen. We’re embedded journalists and we’re discovering America, one small town at a time.

Florence, AL - Day 1

April 15th, 2008 by Twitter Travels

So, the day started out a little harsh, and we left a lot later than we had intended, BUT when we got here, we were welcome with open arms from @BrookeinBama and her boyfriend Tyler.

I have one piece of advise for the government of the great state of Alabama: Raise taxes! You need to invest in ROAD SIGNS. We got lost twice due to lack of road signs! Come on, people!

Now seriously, the Muscle Shoals/Florence area is gorgeous. We fell in love with the architecture the moment we got lost. We went to see the house that Helen Keller was born in. More pictures soon!

We went out to “The Train Bridge,” which used to function, but is now some sort of state park type thing. We’ll have pictures of it tomorrow, when we return in daylight.

We spread some love for Doctor Steel’s Toy Army, exposing Brook and Tyler to the insanity and fun of Dr. Steel. May have gotten him a new army member as well.

Now down to the skinny for a second. We have a full tank of gas, and $11. We really need your help guys. Use the donation button at the side, tell your friends, blog, podcast, tweet, whatever you can!
